Thanks to the generous support of everyone who attended, sponsored, and volunteered at the 2025 Sweetheart City Car Show, we were able to do something truly special shortly after the 2026 event was in the books.
In October 2025, with proceeds from the event, we purchased a solid Chevrolet Suburban. In the months that followed, we completed the additional repairs needed to make it road-ready. Today, we’re thrilled to share that this vehicle has been gifted to a local single mom and her three kids.
The family’s previous car had been declared unrepairable—the cost of fixing it far exceeded its value. There was so much wrong with the vehicle that our repair partner at Metric Motors told her she and her children would be unsafe driving it. The tires alone were in such bad shape that she could have been in a serious accident at any moment. They needed a reliable vehicle that could handle daily life with three children, and this Suburban checked every box.
Mechanically sound and still in good shape body-wise, it has plenty of life left and is a perfect fit for their needs.
When we called to share the news, her response said it all: “Thank you so much! You can’t hear it in my voice, but I have tears streaming down my face right now.”
We didn’t do it alone. Special thanks go to our community partners who stepped up:
- Metric Motors provided the initial diagnosis that confirmed the previous vehicle was unsafe and unrepairable.
- Stitchmasters Upholstery donated the parts and labor to completely repair the torn driver and passenger seats, restoring comfort and safety inside the cabin.
- Big O Tires provided discounted new tires so the Suburban rolled away on a full set of fresh rubber.
These contributions, combined with the funds raised at the 2025 show, allowed us to purchase the vehicle, complete the necessary work, and place the keys directly into the hands of a family that needed them most.
Seeing the smile on her face as she received the Suburban reminded us why we host the Sweetheart City Car Show every year. It’s more than classic cars, cool engines, and a fun day out—it’s about turning community support into real, lasting help for our neighbors.
Thank you to every attendee, sponsor, volunteer, and donor who made this possible. Your support keeps families moving forward.
Stay tuned for details on what we’ve been able to do with the proceeds from the 2026 car show. We can’t wait to share the next chapter with you!
